Being TRULY Good

Maybe I have been very harsh, even blasphemous with my handling of the 10 commandments. But what I effectively am against is not so much that they exist as moral codes to live by, but rather, that people have been using them to condemn other people through time without end.

Is there any WORTH in their existence? As a Christian code, I do not believe there is any worth in the 10 commandments in furthering the fundamental tenet of what being Christian is, aside from the fact that they prove we will always fail, morally, and therefore need Christ. This is why I absolutely abhor the people that use them to condemn other people, because these same people cannot follow these codes completely either. Therefore they have no right to demean the other people who can’t. It’s hypocrisy.

Furthermore, these codes do not only exist within the Christian context. They are within all our consciousness. It isn’t the defining portion of the Bible that makes Christians different from any other religion.

Is there anything honorable in desisting to murder someone, or ceasing to covert someone else’s wife, or not using God’s name in vain, or not fucking all your best friends. I do not think so. It’s like saying it’s a honorable thing to attend school everyday. Being able to follow all the laws would definitely be commendable, only, you will never be able to do it. I don’t know many people that don’t think about sex with someone other than their wife on a daily basis. I don’t see what’s so honorable about NOT murdering someone. That’s expected behaviour. Saving someone from not getting murdered is honorable. My point is that, instead of attempting to follow moral codes we were never meant to be able to abide to completely, why not stop fretting over it and spend the time instead doing what you can to make a better place? You cannot be fretting over behaving yourself and doing good things for other people at the same time. You could be doing nice things to attempt to get yourself into heaven, but we all know that the best gifts to man-kind are the type of gifts that expect nothing in return.

I don't know about you but I am an atheist. I usually do not give a shit about all those religious crap but this post of yours is great. We live and we only live once. Fuck whatever others say, we should live our lives the way we want to. Reason being our lives belong to us and us alone. We've got only ourselves to answer to. Forget all the hypocrisy in Singapore as this is a country that overwhelmed by superficial behavior.
